REMEMBERING OUR FRIEND- RICH CARBONE Our Director and Volunteer

On March 9th we lost a family member!

2 Years ago we were Blessed with Rich who became an integral part of our organization.  He joined us at the beginning of the shelter makeover video-taping for posterity the demolition and construction using his drone.

He was a man of many talents who put such talents to good use around the shelter.

He was our “Mr. Fix-it” and if he didn’t have the right tool for the job he would buy it.

He would also research and purchase enrichment supplies for our homeless pets like water fountains for the cats or build them walkways and hammocks.  He utilized a small space as a workroom in which to salvage or recreate broken or overused items like scratch posts and climbing trees.  Recently as a director, Rich participated in the investigation and alleviation of a neglect situation involving over 100 animals.  He was always willing to contribute his time and his talent whenever and wherever needed for the animals.  This included sitting in a kennel with a frightened dog helping that dog to trust again. He even had his head shaved during the Jordan’s Way fundraiser!

A few months ago Rich bought a house to be able to foster a couple of pets.  He setup a bedroom for two elderly cats with stairs to get on the bed and window seat platforms for their entertainment.  Within a week these two seniors made their way to his bed!

Although plagued with medical issues Rich remained uncomplaining about them, never had a negative comment about anyone and kept his sense of humor despite his challenges.

“be kind, for everyone you meet is fighting a battle you know nothing about” is a saying I found on his FB page.

That was Rich, a kind, compassionate, dedicated and devoted gentle, gentleman who en”Rich”ed the lives of all of us two and four legged creatures at Warwick Humane.

No doubt wagging tails and melodious purrs greeted Rich Carbone at Rainbow Bridge!
